aelfswithe: fumbledeegrumble: myladyherald: tikkunolamorgtfo: unoriginal6669: micdotcom: With some of this stuff it’s hard to tell if it’s ironic detachment or genuine racism, but at some point, what’s the f***king difference? Wtf is this? Anyone else never heard or seen any of these “racist code words”? this made no sense… is this satire? Sadly, no; I got called a “Skype promoting lies” last week for posting about how my congregation made support for Black Lives Matter an important component of our Rosh Hashanah services. And make no mistake—these white supremacists specifically chose “Skype” to be their word for Jews because of its linguistic similarity to “Kike.” The code words are a new but very real thing. these are all very, very real symbols. as a heads up, white supremacists will occasionally get 14, 88, 1488, HH, and the visual symbols shown above incorporated into their tattoos in a way that isn’t immediately obvious (of course, the last time i saw a guy with white supremacy ink, he had a literal portrait of adolf hitler on his arm! in the year of our goddamn lord 2016! fucking amaaazing) I love how unoriginal666 is swooping in to do damage control and obfuscate things so this seems ridiculous. Surprised he didn’t go for the “it’s just jokes, bro” or “it’s not that deep” Coded slurs are definitely a thing and we NEED to be aware of them, because there are codes for so many marginalized people. You’ll sometimes see the old South African flag, from the apartheid days used as a white supremacist symbol around the world. I’m on mobile and can’t post images in replies, but it’s three horizontal stripes: orange on top, then white, then blue. There are three little flags in the middle, but I’m not sure those are always included. -- source link
