Yes! Pretty much everything here. The promos are always so much more dramatic than the show. And they cut and paste lines together to make things look worse than they are. I’ve no doubt there will be tension, with Tom being Irish and all the Irish problems they were having at the time it would be really weird it that wasn’t bought up. And Branson probably lets his mouth run away with him more than this but Sybil knew he was like that before she married him. Excellent point with D. too. And he’s officially a regular now which I think means he has to be in every ep. or at least most of them. He’s hardly going to leave after the very first one :P Another note about the drama and tension with the Bransons too: I said on my main blog that it’s really a weird story to have if they do break up or are unhappy. The whole message would turn into ‘crossing classes is a bad idea, don’t go near poor people. Hey, that cousin of yours looks nice, marry him instead.’ It’s also going to be a lot more interesting so see Tom and the Crawleys try and work through their differences rather than just be angry the whole time. Of course it’s harder to write and Lavinia’s story proved Fellowes doesn’t mind a cop-out every now and then but let’s just hope he’s gotten over that phase. Also, Branson’s line to Matthew? “You won’t be happy with anyone elsewhile Lady Mary walks the earth” He’s obviously speaking from experience, he won’t let things between him and Sybil go bad because he knows there’s no one else on Earth who would make him as happy as she does. But really, anyone freaking out that a couple will divorce up just because they argue is in for a difficult time if they ever get married :P -- source link
