art-of-swords: Russian Bardische Dated: 17th/18th century Measurements: Head 77.8 cm. Overall length 176 cm The head of the bardische is formed as a long flat knife-like blade with convex cutting edge. The base is drawn out to a flattened prong attached to the haft, pierced with two series of circular holes following the strongly dished contours of the back edges. The latter was additionally decorated with small panels of cusped ornament in the upper half. The short socket is retained by four nails along the back while an iron cap nailed over the top: on its original faceted wooden haft, flattened and widening below the socket and carved with a double projection on the leading edge towards the base.
