peashooter85:The Pieper Actionless Over Under rifle/shotgun,One of the more unique designs, the Pieper Actionless was invented Maurice Thonon in 1947 and manufactured by the Belgian company Pieper. The Pieper Actionless was a double barrel firearm with over and under barrels. However, the Actionless used a unique design that was supposed to make it light weight, yet stronger than the average shotgun or double rifle.First and foremost among the oddities are it’s two triggers, which are completely enveloped within a hollow area in the stock. Note how the triggers point upward, rather than pointing down like most firearms. Secondly, the Pieper Actionless is a break open breechloading firearm, however instead of the barrels breaking upward like most traditional double barrel firearms, the Actionless breaks to the right, exposing the chambers for loading. Overall it seemed as though this firearm was designed with sleekness in mind. However its most notable feature was its versatility. It was easy to remove the barrels of the Actionless and replace with another set of barrels. Pieper manufactured spare barrels in a number of shotgun gauges and rifle calibers. Thus the owner could have a double barrel shotgun in any gauge, a double barrel rifle in any caliber, and even a shotgun/rifle drilling (combo). Despite its unique design and versatility, few Pieper Actionless shotgun/rifles were produced and sold. Today they are rare among other European firearms of its time. -- source link
