workingclasshistory:On this day, 5 January 1915, the revolutionary union Industrial Workers of the World organised a delegation of 150 hungry unemployed people to storm the elite Commercial Club in Sioux City demanding work or unemployment relief. To the horror of a local journalist they helped themselves to bread rolls on the way out. The next day the city council created 400 jobs for the unemployed grading roads.
