alanspazzaliartist: Joseph Lorusso (1966) American artist from Chicago, Illinois. Of Italian descent, Lorusso was exposed to art from a young age and through various trips to Italy, where his parents introduced him to the works of the Italian Masters. Lorusso would assimilate these influences throughout his early artistic development and they are still evident in his work today. He specialized in watercolor and considers himself a self-taught oil painter. He learned to paint by studying the works of master painters and today creates landscapes and figurative works. In painting these subjects, he has concentrated on honing his powers of observation, especially with regard to color, texture, shape, and composition. His paintings have been described as warm and dreamlike at the same time, with an awareness of spirituality, and sharing a sense of eternity with works from other eras. Explains Lorusso, “I truly believe that art is great that serves as a trigger to something deeper within all of us. -- source link
