justnoodlefishthings:thishaileysays:itsdetachable:justnoodlefishthings:Weasely’s Birdsbesafe collar finally came.I don’t think he likes it much :VWell there’s an option for people who are unable to keep cats indoors to at least help native wildlife get away from cats, this deserves looking into it.Yep. Definitely buying one of these for my sisters cat.Yeah it was not my choice to let him outside. But he was a stray before the shelter got him and he was hellbent on getting outside when we adopted him. We relented for a long time but eventually he got out one day and he’s been indoor/outdoor ever since. Birdsbesafe collars are great. Songbirds (Passerine birds) have adapted to see bright colors and can easily spot them. The rim is reflective. The bright neon collars alert songbirds to your cat as it stalks them and allows them to fly to safety. It does not work for rodents or non-Passerine birds (like woodpeckers) as these animals cannot see the colors on the collar. Though woodpeckers do not deign on the forest floors, so that shouldn’t be much of a concern. It fits over the collar and does not bother the cat and is flexible and lightweight. Though you definitely should only equip it with a safe break away collar. -- source link
