Snow Leopard Cub by My Planet Experience Snow leopard (Panthera uncia or Uncia uncia), also called ounce, is a carnivore that inhabits the mountainous regions of central Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Its litters of two to four young are born after a gestation period of approximately 93 days. Snow leopards have pretty long tails. About 80 – 100 cm in length as against its body length of 48 – 60 cm. The snow leopard uses its bushy tail to keep balance when it jumps. The tail allows the leopard to maneuver rather quickly. The leopard uses its tail as a blanket when it is asleep, it wraps the tail around their body. The snow leopard population is estimated to be only a few thousand animals, and the species is thus considered endangered. © www.myplanetexperience.com https://flic.kr/p/2jDAVwH -- source link
