theladyinthegraveyard: NYX She’s the Greek goddess of the night. She mothered deities such as Hypnos ( Sleep) Thanatos ( Death) and Erebus (Darkness). She is depicted like a very beautiful and powerful woman, feared by Zeus himself. In Hesiod’s “Theogony”, she’s born of chaos and she is located in the Tartarus. She gave birth to Moros ( Destiny) Ker ( Destruction) the Oneiroi ( Dreams) Momus ( Blame) Oizys ( Pain) and the Morai ( Fates). She was rarely the focus of cults but it is believed she had an oracle on the necropolis at Megara and there was a statue of her in the temple of Artemis at Ephesus.
