chickensshallfly:Photos the the left are images taken from my porch in Tortola, British Virgin Islands before and after the day after Hurricane Irma passed through us. Images to the right are before and after shots of Cane Garden Bay on Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. These images are only a glimpse of the destruction wreaked by Hurricane Irma. Not two weeks later, and another Category Five Hurricane (Maria) will be affecting us on Tuesday/Wednesday. Today’s my 18th birthday, and the only wish I have right now is for each and every one of you to lend a helping hand to the Caribbean islands affected by these natural disasters. We are small, and we lack many resources, not to mention our economy is heavily based on tourism. Lend a helping hand not only to my British Virgin Islands, but the US Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Puerto Rico, Antigua and Barbuda, St Maarten and St Martin, Dominica, Guadeloupe and other nations that may be or have been affected. Never in a million years did I think I’d ever go through something like this. Never have I ever thought to myself that I’d have face death not once, but twice within the same month.
