At the time (and if memory serves me right they still do) had small ration packs to last about a week. And when I say small, they weren’t that small, but the same size ration packs fed the American’s for a day. So when the Americans were given Australia ration packs, you can imagine how shocked the Australians were when they downed a weeks worth in a day. My dad shock his head and told them that had to last a week. The solider he was talking to said “God damn son, how do you survive.”Dad being a placid bloke just stared blankly at him and said; “Rationing mate.”My dad has had some good times with the yanks -- source link
