drriversanddrrocks:eclecticmasterpiece:prcphetsofwar:I think OP’s dad should be in charge of how work works This is part of why boomers think we’re so lazy. That’s how it worked for them so when we don’t get promoted the same way they blame us. Trying to convince my boomer parents that having a paper trail to “prove that I did what they asked me to do” won’t actually help if it comes down to a disagreement with my boss is an exercise in frustration. It doesn’t matter that I did what my boss told me to do. It doesn’t matter that I have the ten emails I sent asking for clarification with no responses. If the result isn’t what they want- and no, they didn’t tell me what that was supposed to look like- then I’m wrong and it’s my fault. Period.Because if email didn’t work, I should have text-chatted. And if that didn’t work I should have called. And failing that, I should have gone to their office in person. Even though I don’t have access to that floor. And I get the disbelief. I do. It took me a long time to come to terms with it and I’m the one that’s experiencing it. I’d like to believe it’s because they didn’t have to deal with this bullshit and it’s hard for them to understand how it’s allowed to continue. But that doesn’t make it any less true. Workplaces today are not ruled by fairness. They are built to extract maximum production at minimum cost. -- source link
