argonauticae:vsthepomegranate:Donna Tartti think my favourite thing about the tsh photoset aesthetic is that although you can recognise a photoset for this entirely non-visual fandom just from the shared visual cues and bc like 60% of them look exactly the same, you can’t complain about it (not that i would want to im so fucking weak for these photosets just fuck me up tsh fandom fuck me up) bc the actual author herself has been so fully committed to that exact aesthetic for like twenty years, predating the entire concept of the photoset and indeed tsh itself. like!!! as far as i can tell this photo is from a couple of years ago (neo-classical architecture? check. autumnal vibe? check. smoking? check. weird fucking white deer statues despite the fact that there are literally no actual real deer as opposed to fictional alibi deer in this entire fucking novel?? check check mfing check) but try to find me one single publicity photo of donna tartt in her two-decade-plus literary career that could not reasonably be included in a low-contrast photoset captioned beauty is terror along with some broken statuary and a half-drunk glass of whiskey. one single picture that would look out of place next to a pile of liddell and scotts. fuck you you cant do it!!!! she’s won. she had a vision and now that vision has become reality. this is her world and we’re all just living in it -- source link
