Imagine this: you’re waking up on a Sunday morning and perhaps it’s one of the only days in the week that you can truly enjoy a luxurious morning of sleeping in. Right? Maybe not, if you have children under the age of 10 who have made it their business to inform you that your sole purpose of the day is to entertain them. “What are we doing today? Can we do something really fun,” are just a few of the pleas, from your little ones, that you’ve come to know oh so very well. And as their parent extraordinaire, you’re happy to exchange a couple hours of sleep to oblige them. With all the activities, lessons, cultural centers and special events that the city has to offer children, it can be a real drag, sifting through the Internet for the right activity to provide the right energyyou’re looking for that day. Many parents have a routine of the go-to blogs orprograms that they frequent. Our Arty Facts program isone of those programs that sees many returning families and many new friends becauseit is consistent, engaging and exciting to both experienced and new museumgoers. In Arty Facts, children, ages 4-7, work with their peers andthe adult(s) who comes with them to look closely at art and participate inengaging conversations about art in the museum. After some fun guided lookingwith experienced museum educators, the group heads back to the studio wherethey create a unique work of art inspired by the theme of the month and lessonof the day. Children explore touch objects, various art processes and the vastcollection of the Brooklyn Museum. Arty Facts is a drop in program that runs in two sessions(11am or 1:30pm) for 1.5 hours, every Sunday. As the monthly theme and dailylesson are constantly updated, each Sunday provides a new fresh experience thatkeeps families coming back for more. Children learn to look and create whiletheir adults pick up some tools to guide their looking along the way. Feel freeto drop in and join us on Sundays for a unique guided experience.Posted by Lauraberth Lima -- source link
