*Labeculae Vivae: Building a Reference Library of Stains for Researching Medieval Manuscripts* is currently on exhibit in the Snyder-Granader Alcobe on the sixth floor of Van Pelt, right by the Reading Room. Left by time and usage, stains on manuscripts are signs indicative of their past lives. Supported by a microgrant from the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR), and run as a preliminary pilot study, this project provides an identified, open-access database of a number of commonly found stains in order to help researchers acquire knowledge about these precious artifacts. This exhibition presents the results of the investigation and demonstrates the best practices in using the database for a diverse audience of scholars. Institutions involved are @scihistoryorg @uwmadison @librarycongress and @uiowa .
