vincentbriggs:My first pair of breeches vs. my latest pair. (Which I think is my 9th?) My pattern drafting and fitting has improved SO MUCH, as has my sewing! I hadn’t looked at the pink ones in ages and wow, they really do not fit well. There are also a lot of things I do differently with the construction now. And I had already been sewing for at least 4 years when I made them. Breeches intimidated me so much I kept putting them off.I think I should make more comparison posts with old photos, it’s so important to show that we all start somewhere!I think I could probably make the pink breeches look decent with some serious alteration, but I doubt they’re worth it. I used very thin and slightly slubby silk and backed every piece of it with fusible interfacing, and the silk was so thin the little glue dots show through. I’ll probably give them to a local low budget theatre company, like I do with most of my old and not-so-good projects. They’re always happy to receive them, and things don’t need to be perfect if they’re going to be altered a lot and seen from a distance. -- source link
