hushabyevalley: The Order of the Last Prayer is the largest and oldest of all the knights orders of Hushabye Valley - their ranks constantly refilled by people who’s lost nearly everything and willing to give what’s left to make a difference. With a single, tall, towering silver bell at the heart of the Chiming Mountains, the order has dug their keep through endless tunnels and chambers all-through its rocky body. Like its name suggests - kept alive by the anvils of the blacksmith’s guild - the entire mountain rings by the vibrations of the bell, keeping the threats of the mist far away and exposes any changeling inside as they slowly go insane from the agony of the unending chiming silver echoes. With their names written down in the Book of Prayers - as psalms to the needs of the ailing world - they live selflessly for one another until the day they die in battle. To be truly selfless, for ones virtues to be pure, a knight of the Last Prayer is ready to have their existence erased once he or she has fulfilled their duty in death. Only their mark on the betterment of the world shall remain - their names forever struck from the Book of Prayers and their memory forgotten by their peers. For there is no honor in death, no pride in effort, no sacrifice in vain. Many who join the order find this promised release of the world a blessing. While not out on crusades, each knight is a member of a trade guild. Everyone has to work and provide for the order in equal value as the guilds caucus chambers constantly bustle with life as things are kept organized and balanced for everyone’s needs. The bonds within each guild grow very strong, close to that of family.Considered dangerously fervent in their aggressive attacks on the mist, the people of the valley are quite wary of their presence. The gloomy air about them tend to lower the spirit of any village they visit or pass by during their culling marches to a noticeable degree. They are paranoid and forgive no changeling or witch or the use of any mist knowledge - such as blue fire or marble shards. One peculiar thing about the order is the sizeable proportion of giants. Though few manage to grow to the stature of the giants of the order of the Three Crowns and most carry debilitating mental conditions. One could guess it’s a growth stunting result of the claustrophobic mountain tunnels and the “curse of the blue blood” making them poor subjects for the selfless culture of the order of the Last Prayer. Despite this, no one can explain their prevalence, as giants in the wild are rare as they are and the royal giants behind the walls of Kamar keep to their own.Though there are no heroes from this order, due to the nature of their culture, the most revered knight in Hushabye Valley’s history is, ironically, one from the order of the Last Prayer. 100 years ago, after breaching the gates of Castle Hushabye in a non-sanctioned attack and slaying the last Great Horror residing within at the expense of her own life - ending the War of the Great Horrors - her remaining close friends at the blacksmith’s guild refused to let her name be forgotten. They left the order and founded their own in reverence of their dear lost friend and her heroic deed - forming the order of Sancta Klarabella. Her name has come to be used by the people of the valley as an expression of hope. -- source link
