threadsketchier:Yeah, um.  This.Y’all know that comic preview that’s made the rounds recently showing the opening of the new post-ESB Marvel SW run starting January 2020?  The one where Lando’s arguing with Chewie and Leia in front of Luke sitting right there in the same lounge about why the hell is this guy so important that they had to go back for him instead of chasing down Fett to save Han?…can y’all seriously reconcile that Lando with THIS Lando right here?The Lando that’s thoughtful enough to comfort and reassure a visibly traumatized Luke in this brief moment, in this small but significant way, as he moves through his personal space would not be so fucking rude and callous as to talk disparagingly about him WHILE JUST A FEW FEET AWAY FROM HIM.(For that matter, everybody just standing around having a petty bitchfest while Luke is totally ignored in earshot of them, instead of having the decency to do it while giving him his privacy, leaving Artoo to be the only one who seems to give a shit about him in that moment, just chaps my ass to hell, but that’s beside the point.)After questioning Leia’s desire to go back for Luke because of the encroaching TIE fighters, Lando doesn’t press the issue anymore.  He doesn’t keep sniping about it.  He follows Leia’s orders and puts himself in serious danger going atop the Falcon to grab Luke, and even has a fucking blanket ready to wrap him in.  (THANK YOU FOR DOING WHAT WE ALL WANT TO DO TO LUKE, LANDO, YOU’RE OUR HERO TWICE OVER.)  He doesn’t dump him the second they’re both aboard and run back to the cockpit to handle their escape, he slowly and gently walks him toward a reunion with Leia before springing back into action.The real Lando would know better than to act like that.  Y’know, the Lando who did everything he could to save the citizens he was responsible for.  The Lando who schemed to do the right thing as soon as he realized there was no good solution to the terrible bargain he’d made.  Blah blah character arc - Lando was already an ethical and good-natured man as presented onscreen, period.  I could definitely see him asking questions of Leia at some point later discreetly.  Because he’s a gentleman.Lando’s a scoundrel, not an asshole.(gifset credit to tatooineknights) -- source link
