nocturlabium:“In the year 1558 Julius Caesar Luchino of Bologna arranged to have this astrolabe made for himself in accordance with the Tabulæ Bergenses.”Fully functioning brass astrolabe commissioned in 1558 to Tridentine maker Giovanni Domenico Fecioli (Io. Dom. Feciolus Trident faciebat, as inscribed on the back) in the city of Bologna. The Tabulae Bergenses are basically a set of astronomical tables based on the Copernican system, but they were officially published only two years later, so the scientific value of this thing must have been quite unthinkable. Currently on display in the History of Science Museum, Oxford.Bene. -- source link
