mitsurugireiji:If you’ve been following me for a while, you may remember that back in 2017 my Grandmother, for whom my Mother and I’d been caring for for nearly a decade, died suddenly. This lead to me having to halt, and then quit my degree. At the time, I was contacted by Student Finance about overpayments for both my and my Mother’s degrees.Because at the time I was grieving, dealing with my family, dealing with paperwork, and dealing with the house, when I contacted my Uni to ask about this and they said they’d handle it, I trusted them. I never got another letter about overpayments in the next 4 years, so I assumed they’d done what they said they had.Clearly, they didn’t.Altogether, I have to pay back about £5000.I do not have £5000. In installments, or one go, I do not have £5000. We’ve been in a pandemic, and still are. We’ve been paying rent and bills with only our savings and no income for the past year and a half as we wait for the UK govt to, for once, act in the best interest of the people. At most, currently, I have £800 and I can’t waste a drop of it. I’m interviewing at a WFH job currently, but I might not get it, and even if I do, it’s not stable or paid enough to make this possible.I’m writing this post as I’m still in the ‘shock’ of this, but I can feel the fear creeping up my chest, and the anger that I was never contacted about this in the past when this could have been fixed. But I’m also resigned. This past year has just….battered me, I can hardly be surprised that this would crop up this morning.Any help toward this goal is appreciated, if you can, please give at THIS LINK. If you can’t/don’t want to give (believe me, I’m more than aware of how COVID has obliterated finances), could you please share this? Thank you.I am so tired. -- source link
