art-of-swords: Marine Officer’s Saber Dated: first quarter of the 19th century Culture: probably American Measurements: overall length 92 cm Provenance: Ex-Higgins Armory Museum, Worcester, MA. Featuring an eagle head pommel and elaborate guard with acorn finials, connected by a chain, the wooden grip of the sword is chequered. The curved, single-edged blade comes with a single broad fuller, etched, blued and gilded and signed “P. KNECHT SOLINGEN” at the forte.
