A lone Japanese macaque. There are troops of macaques in the Tanzawa mountains, once in a blue moon there will be reports that one has ventured out - but it is very rare. I first photographed this one (or rather his back) back in August, and thought that was that and I’d probably missed a once in a lifetime opportunity to shoot one in Hassawa. Then, a whole month later I saw it again! The light was fading fast and it ran off into the dark trees but I just managed this single shot - and then he was gone. -- source link
