astronomy-to-zoology:Green Hermit (Phaethornis guy)..a large species of hermit hummingbird (Phaethornithinae) which is known to be a resident breeder from southern Central America (mainly Costa Rica and Panama) south to northern South America, ranging from north-eastern Venezuela and Trinidad to the northern Andes of eastern Peru. Nominate subspecies green hermits are found in Venezuela and Trinidad. while the western P. g. apicalis is encountered along the Andes. Green hermits typically inhabit forest undergrowth, usually near water, and prefer hilly areas. Like most hummingbirds, green hermits feed on nectar. Which is taken form a variety of foodplants including Justicia umbrosa, Raisea spicata, Pitcarinia brittonian and others.
