galacticmenagerie:redgeot:The UntamedEP7I didn’t mean toi got some THOUGHTS about lan zhan’s face here. about how he doesn’t really look angry until the 6th gif, when they’re “caught”. in the first one, there’s the ‘oof’ of the impact of their fall and then? a lovely little moment of Gay Panic™ when he realizes the position that they’re in: wei ying hovering over him, so close that those charming little face-framing tendrils of hair could almost brush lan zhan’s cheek. then in the third one? i think this one is a little more, y’know, me doing what i do and running w/ the gayest possible reading of everything bc why not, but!! when he glances down at their hands, now very tightly bound by his own sacred forehead ribbon, i see a little ‘what if’ moment. a moment where it looks like he’s thinking about what could happen next.wei ying is so close. what if he just. tugged on their joined hands? tugged wei ying a little closer? he’s already made one bold move, with the ribbon, even if it was arguably out of necessity and wei ying doesn’t understand the significance of it. what if he made another? one that wei ying would understand? what if he kissed wei ying right here in the back hill?and then they’re found and in the fifth gif? there’s a moment of panic and then what looks like disappointment. and like, i don’t think lan zhan would have made that move regardless, i don’t think he’s there at this point in the narrative, but still. the possibility evaporates at the sound of jiang cheng’s voice. and wei ying answers him cheerfully!! in the sixth gif when lan zhan looks up at him he’s smiling, relieved, happy to see his brother, obviously not disappointed to have missed the opportunity to kiss lan zhan silly and that’s when he looks angry: when he looks up and reality slots back into place and not only is he frustrated that jiang cheng and wen qing’s arrival has punctured that little fantasy, he probably feels embarrassed and foolish for entertaining the notion, even just for those couple of seconds, and isn’t that just like lan zhan, for embarrassment to show as anger on his face?anyway, @july-19th-club, u said i should not stop talking about in-depth little details, so i lovingly blame u for this -- source link
