Upon arriving on Okinawa’s main island, we decided to pay Okinawa World a visit. I imagine it’s quite like the Polynesian Cultural Center back home, just… not quite as nice or bad-ass. Same sort of concepts, though. Traditional island culture, touristed-up. Still, it was fun! We got to see a sea snake race a mongoose, a lady smack a cobra on the back because apparently they can’t sense shit from above or behind them, a giant boa constrictor skin, and this old guy playing the… shamisen? Or the Okinawan equivalent. Sort of a weird amusement park, but still an interesting visit. -- source link
