As I mentioned earlier, ferries are available at Ishigaki’s port for travelers who want to venture off-island a little. The five of us took a ferry to Taketomi Island, which was fantastic. Suuuuuper hot and sunny and perfect. The ferry ride itself was only about ten or fifteen minutes, if that, and once we got there, we biked round and round the island until the late afternoon. Taketomi has a population of only about 300-something, and we biked around the whole top half of the island in no time at all! The above whale-boat is not the one we rode in, but I found it both cool and relevant, so there you go. -- source link
