Worker Housing, Boh Tea Plantation, Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia, 2000.Note the Hindu Temple in the Lower Right. Most of the Boh plantation workers are descendants of Tamils who were impressed from southern India by the British. In multi-ethnic Malaysia, descendants of immigrants from India account for about 7 per cent of the population concentrated in a few areas, notably the larger cities and the tea and rubber plantations developed by the British before independence. The brown hillside behind the worker housing is a field of tea bushes which has been stripped of its young leaves. In the mild but humid tropical highland climate they will soon enough set out new leaves, ready for another harvest. -- source link
