GALTx eNews: Everyone Needs A Buddy Sometimes! And we are here to be Buddy’s buddy! We want to tell Buddy’s story because his story is our story too. At nine years old, Buddy found himself in a predicament. His senior owner who breeds Greyhounds in Oklahoma became ill and unable to care for Buddy. Starting a new journey home forever at nine years old is never easy, but Buddy’s journey is further complicated by the fact that he is also 95% blind from retinal degeneration. We mean it when we say “No Grey Turned Awaytm” - that’s part of our story - so when we heard Buddy needed someone to be his Buddy, we immediately agreed to help. On November 24th, our wonderful volunteers picked up Buddy and brought him to Dallas to be a part of our family until his forever family comes along. Earlier today, Buddy moved in with his foster family who will help him get settled.Buddy is not tattooed and came from an “oops” litter that was not registered. He is a love and gets around despite his lack of vision. He listens for voices and expresses excitement when he hears you talking to him. He can be a bit strong on a leash when he notices something of interest but otherwise walks well. We are looking forward to learning more about him and the kind of home that will be best. A home that is willing to leave the furniture in the same place and that can provide a dog companion to help Buddy find his way around the world will likely suit Buddy. We do not yet know how Buddy responds to cats or small dogs. If you’re interested in adopting Buddy, watch for him to be available as soon as he has spent some time in his foster home.If a blind hound isn’t right for you, you can help Buddy and other hounds in a bind with a recurring donation to our Champion Fund. Thank you!12/4/2020 -- source link
