weirdmarioenemies:We localized the names of all the Super Mario Land 2 enemies, ourselves! Yeah! We decided to, for fun, come up with localized names for all of our beloveds from Super Mario Land 2, and felt it would be a fun holiday surprise to share it all with you in a special series of posts! So here they are, in alphabetical order of their official names! Antotto -> Antotto We start with Antotto, whose name we localized to… Antotto! I promise we actually came up with new names for most of these! Antotto was just already so perfect, a perfectly cute name for a perfectly cute ant. Aqua Kuribō -> Goomdiver This is not an original name, but instead, we are just retroactively declaring that Aqua Kuribō and Goomdiver from Superstar Saga are, in fact, the same enemy, since it makes sense to do so. And now we can rejoice that a SML2 enemy was in an RPG! Battle Beetle -> Battle Beetle Battle Beetle is one of the few to have an already localized name, and we would not change it one bit. Bear -> Grumpy Roller Bear’s name was technically in English, but it was boring. Now it is fun and descriptive! It really is a grumpy little roller. Bē -> Babee This one is Babee, because it is such a baby! Not a literal baby, since it would be a larva in that case, but a baby because it is so cute and precious. It is named after bee flies, and while it may not really be a bee, Babee is too perfect for it! Bee -> Bee Sharp Another with an originally basic name, Bee has now become part of a musically thematic name series with the other bee enemies! This one tries to sting you. Bee Sharp! Bēro -> Blantern It’s a lantern with its tongue sticking out, like it is saying “blah”. So it is Blantern! Bomubomu -> Cannonboar This pig is also a cannon that shoots cannonballs, so it gets a play on “cannonball” for its name! Bopping Toady -> Bopping Toady Do not think for a second we would even CONSIDER changing Bopping Toady! Būichi -> Bee Major While originally this one was given the excellent Chubbee, after extensive discussion we came to the conclusion that there was another clever name that would fit with our newly-assigned musical bee theme!
