That m-spec, a-spec, intersex, nonbinary/genderqueer and trans folk were indubitably included and celebrated in queer theory. That queer theory was made with us all in mind. With people who thought ‘maybe people can like multiple genders’ or ‘maybe can like no genders’ or ‘the gender you’re assigned at birth doesn’t need to match you’ or ‘maybe some people don’t have a sexuality or gender, or have more than one’. Aces (and aros and agender folks, all the lovely peeps under the A umbrella) are people who queecr theory absolutely embraces. Queer is all about complications. Not cis, not man or woman, not straight or gay, muddy, undefined, doesn’t want to be defined, too complex to define, has multiple labels, doesn’t have the right label. Most people i’ve seen claim queer have one or more of those reasons and it’s why the word queer gets such gatekeeping reactions.
