pennie-dreadful: ayasugi-san: i-hear-you-nokken: hiddleloki: Thor Ragnarok: Deleted scene …HER way was cold and brutal? Don’t you mean YOUR way until you didn’t need her anymore, Odin? This. Hero-Villain Double Standards are still entirely in place. Loki is Redeemable, so he gets an apology and admission that most of his problems were due to how Odin raised him. Hela is Irredeemable, so she’s told she’s just bad all on her own. And…who taught her to be cold and brutal??? We already know that what really happened is she became too ambitious, and Odin felt threatened. Odin turned his daughter into a monster and only gave a shit when he stopped being able to control her. I like this version better, though. Odin getting shanked is *chef’s kiss*. Better than peacefully turning into fairy dust or what the fuck ever. I say again, the biggest wasted potential of this movie was a face off between Hela and Loki where Hela appeals to Loki to join her and reminds him of all the fucked up shit Odin did to him, and how much they have in common as children that Odin groomed for a specific purpose and then discarded. (Because no, Odin didn’t sentence Loki to life in solitary confinement because of killing some humans. Odin demonstrably doesn’t give a fuck about humans, he did it because he couldn’t control Loki anymore by dangling his love and approval in Loki’s face.) And, you know, sis has a point. But that would mean killing Thor, and Thor (at least in my headcanon where Thor stays in character, lolsob) is not like Odin, is trying to be a better person and not repeat Odin’s mistakes. Like ok yes Loki sacrificed redeemed himself on Svartalfheim but this would be an unequivocal statement of where he stands. I also wish Thor had tried to reach out to Hela at some point, like genuinely and not just *witty dialogue* *fight scene*. -- source link
