Now we know why Microsoft released it – because the male engineers didn’t listen to female user feedback. “Even Early Focus Groups Hated Clippy. Women told Microsoft the animated paper clip was leering at them. The software company didn’t listen.” I was hoping this would come round again, because it occurred to me the other day that what we really need is a Clippy that says “It looks like you’re typing ‘not all men’.
