I’ve always been a bit careful with those sort of auctions (you know, Original from teacher in area, etc, etc) as you never know if it really is old and genuine, although sometimes the condition can tell. If you are looking to buy a Tawse, be aware that the weight affects the effect it will have. A very light one is nothing more than a bit stingy and suitable for prolonged application, a medium one has more smack to it, while a heavy one is a serious punishment instrument. Be careful with Extra Heavy ones. I used to have a 300 gram one once and it wasn’t very useable as it was simply too heavy and severe. -- source link
