holdoncallfailed:“A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose” [sometimes referred to as Das Graphische Werk 1960-1970] by Jasper Johns and Johannes Cladders (1971)In 1967, German artist Joseph Beuys conceived of a museum catalog that could be presented as a self-contained box: a tiny, tangible continuation of the exhibit it described. Until 1978, museum director Johannes Cladders collaborated with a number of visiting artists who exhibited at the Städtisches Museum to create individual kassettenkataloge for each show. Pictured here is the catalog for Jasper Johns’ 1971 exhibit, containing a poem by Gertrude Stein and a waxed plastic rose. -- source link
