Not to mention that your parents may or may not pressure you to get a job, or you might need to get one for economic reasons. I will never not reblog this “…but teenagers have no reason to be stressed.” Me in high school trying to explain stress to my mother College was stressful too, especially if you’re trying to maintain a high GPA. Professors often feel the same way and treat their class as if it’s the only thing that exists (and yes, there is still homework). Plus you have to figure out how to Adult (cooking, cleaning, working, grocery shopping, transportation, exercise, social commitments, internships, etc). But it’s better than high school, because if you just really need a day to catch up on sleep, you can give yourself that. If you really want to skip all the reading and binge all your studying the night before midterms, you can. You’ll still be stressed, but how you deal with it is largely up to you now. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ all of this As a child and teen and young adult with physical health problems, school made me incredibly stressed out and exhausted. Not a ONE of my teachers understood, telling me that if others could do it, I could too, especially because I was ‘so intelligent’. Fucking bullshit is what that was, and I cried myself to sleep many a night, creating further pain and exhaustion from the stress of it all. I managed to survive, but burnt myself out midway through grad school. One last thing, my thesis, was apparently the straw that broke the camel’s back. I’ve learned to forgive myself, but I never should’ve HAD TO. -- source link
