#ShootBack Day 12:Flash forward. About a week after photographing the first protest in Atlanta, Elle and “It’s Bigger Than You ATL” (The youth activist org that formed as a result of the rally) contacted me to let me know that they were taking shuttles full of interested individuals and activists to Ferguson to partner with activists in the city. Ground Zero. I still had classes but I might be able to make the trip- but it was so soon. Could I do it? Should I? Within 48 hours I was on a van headed there.Project #ShootBack is an informal photojournal account of my experience as an artist, photographer and young activist exploring the realms of my black identity within the movement while using the evolution of my art as a tool for self discovery as I uncover my history and potential. This is leading up to my goal of traveling to Selma, Alabama in March to photograph the 50th anniversary of “Bloody Sunday.” Thousands, including the president will be coming to town. I’m currently raising money for this trip and my activism efforts in general here: http://www.gofundme.com/ArtandActivism -- source link
