The residual affection I had (and still have) makes this whole situation taste even more bitter, because man oh man can you imagine how unadulterated the joy would have been if I’d been able to watch the men’s final as a Nole supporter? Well, maybe not unadulterated, because watching Andy lose was always heartbreaking no matter how hard I was in the middle of stumping for Nole, but… this really could have felt so RIGHTEOUS in the way that only revenge can be, and selfishly, I’m very sad that I couldn’t feel that feeling.Last week, I ran into someone who was a current Nole supporter through no proselytizing of my own, and it made me feel a bit better to hear it. Counter-intuitive as that may be.
