puttingherinhistory:Note: I don’t 100% agree with everything said here. But I think some really important things are said. I think in patriarchal cultures a lot of cishet men, dare I say even most cishet men, are really callous about things like the dangerous side affects of hormonal birth control pills, how dangerous and deadly pregnancy and childbirth can be, and how exhausting and time consuming childcare is. They don’t care that things like the dangerous side affects of hormonal birth control, pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare make women suffer and can kill women because women having to repeatedly take on those burdens either benefits men or just doesn’t affect them. And before you say it, yes, I know that hormonal birth control is used for more than just contraceptive purposes. I have endometriosis so I have to take birth control even though I’m in a relationship with another AFAB so I don’t have a risk of pregnancy. But I’m angry at how dangerous the medication I need to take to prevent debilitating cramps is, it’s only this dangerous because most of the people who need it are women. I know if cis men needed this medication too it would be a lot safer. We really need to address the callousness a lot of cishet men have towards the dangerous side affects of hormonal birth control, how dangerous and deadly pregnancy and childbirth can be, and how exhausting and time consuming childcare is. We need cishet men to work on having more empathy towards how much suffering and death these things can cause. -- source link
