Bullies would ignore me because they knew I was so immersed by the book I wouldn’t even notice someone was talking to me. One tried and when no one laughed at his jokes at my expense, I secretly looked up and saw the face of someone who really didn’t want to be there.Girls would walk up to me and ask what I red. They would mention my book reading in “anonymously write something about this person on a piece of paper passed around the classroom” activities. Books were a sweet escape and finally gave me a sense of belonging. It was a library that helped me discover fantasy and jump started my writing. Since then I read dozens of books on creative writing and tutored a lot of aspiring writers. I owe my life to a library. Also libraries are hotbeds of rebellion against the system because it’s dumb people unable to see things from a different perspective who ruin countries and societies. Libraries are to what Gutenberg’s press was to old Europe and the rest of the world. -- source link
