The picture above is from my pick for Day 21 of 30 days of my favorite scary movies. It’s not the typical image you see for the 1978 horror classic Dawn of the Dead, but I think it captures essence of the film as well as if not better than any of the amazing and graphic zombie killing shots you’re likely to see from the film. Four weary people sitting on a mall bench. If not for the armaments they might well have spent their day shopping rather than battling the reanimated dead. It was George Romero’s brilliant blending of tension, gore, and social commentary that made Dawn of the Dead the spiritual godfather of the modern zombie genre. What Night of the Living Dead started, Dawn catapulted to another level. -- source link
