onenicebugperday:@jackthevulture submitted: My P. imperator (Emperor scorpion), Pepper! I adore her.Ohhhh chunky. What a big beautiful buggy buddy. Please tell Pepper that I love and cherish her#how do u keep a pet scorp without it stinging u……..ones this big generally can’t kill a human but it’d still hurt????While some folks do keep scorpion species that are capable of killing humans, Pepper is not one of those species! Emperor scorpions are known for their docile nature and weak venom. They don’t even sting their prey, they mostly use their claws to hunt, as well as for defense! Even if she did sting me, which she is very unlikely to do and would likely be her last resort line of defense that I would like to never make her use, I would be fine as long as I’m not allergic to scorpion venom (the same way people can be allergic to bees). Emperor scorpion venom is actually about as harmful to humans as a bee sting. With species that DO pose a threat to humans, you just don’t handle them mostly. Feed with nice long tongs and minimize the interaction you have with them. -- source link
