shephaestion:litrant:Recent classics, available digitallyThanks to Open Road Media, we’re getting the chance to revisit some of our best-loved recent “classics,” including the remarkable Alexander the Great saga from Mary Renault.Originally published in 1969, Fire From Heaven is the first in a trilogy about the life of Alexander……Renault knew how to do a historical romance (her Theseus series, The King Must Die and The Bull From the Sea, are also being issued as ebooks by Open Road this week). The rest of the Alexander series is also available: The Persian Boy (controversial at the time for its acknowledgment of Alexander’s bisexuality) and Funeral Games. For those who want the whole trilogy in one file, Open Road has an omnibus edition available, too—and it saves money.I remember reading all these books—along with Mary Stewart’s equally romanticized series on the life of Arthur of Britain—as a young teenager. It’s a delight to be able to return to them without taking up shelf space.YAAAAAAAAAS -- source link
