Day 3 of 31 days of my favorite scary movies, John Carpenter’s The Thing. This is probably the one horror movie I’ve watched more times than any other. I could start it again right now and watch it all the way through. It is a masterpiece of paranoia, taking the classic murder mystery structure of a group of people isolated from the rest of the world with a murderer in their midst and pushing it to another level by making the killer something that can be any one of them or even several of them. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a match for Rob Bottin’s horrifying special effects in The Thing. The film was made more than 30 years ago, and they hold up to anything produced today. -- source link
