It was probably used at the battle of Lepanto 1575 before it was probably transferred to a merchant ship. Here you can see the beginning of the Naval Medicine Chests. Since its content was still very extensive, this changes over the centuries and is reduced more and more until only small boxes with little content were left. In the middle of the 19th century, however, the content is expanded again. -- source link
