everkings:shoutingsoloud:(x)okay, so if you’re not caught up on the story, justin bieber has been arrested for DUI and resisting arrest, pending trial or bail from what i know.jared already has past beef with bieber (look through his twitter feed, theres a lot of stuff there, and he has a history of pissing off bieber’s fans) and he posted this a few minutes ago.lets talk about this, shall we?he’s called bieber ‘she’he’s commented on how bieber looks ‘hot’ without makeupso what’s the problem with this?firstly, this is misogyny. jared seems to think that calling bieber a woman is the worst insult he could give him. because, as we all know, women are shameful things that no man would ever want to be, right?if you don’t like bieber, thats cool! neither do i! but calling him a girl is not going to solve anything.you’re telling your fanbase – from what i can tell, young girls – that being a girl is shameful. it’s something to be made fun of. you’re calling bieber a girl because you think that is the worst thing he could be. and that’s really problematic.there’s also the fact that jared is purposefully misgendering him. he’s saying ‘hey! i don’t care what your gender is! i’m going to pretend that it’s something to make fun of!’ and, transphobic implications aside, misgendering someone is not cool. disrespecting someone to be funny is not cool.doing all of this, in public, to an impressionable fanbase, is not cool.(look, i get that he’s probably been brought up in an environment that is seriously biogoted, but he’s a grown man who has been out in the world. he should know better.)This is a really important topic, guys. We are all people - we make mistakes, we have issues. We are fighting battles others don’t know. Trying to place yourself above others by “mocking” what you believe are flawed values (in this case, being a woman) is just - the opposite of what humanity should be about. We need to recognize that we are all in the same boat here and even if some punk young completely ruined by fame kid does stupid shit, you can’t just use him for fame or to be cool - it completely defeats the purpose of being a role model, a position of great honor and great responsibility… to go CRAZY off tangent, this is our problem in America - we idolize actors and sports stars instead of heros, people who go to work and play instead of curing diseases, ending hunger, making the world better for the future of our race… There ARE good actors, grounded, aware of this (cough Misha. Clooney, Peyton cough) but of all the actors you know, how many of them are using their influence for good with any kind of regular attention…? -- source link
