-purecreation:“I’ll see you soon!” What the hell does that mean?“What the hell does that mean?”“It means that I am a firm believer that our paths will cross sooner than you think Noah!” And then she kisses his cheek and goes off to say goodbye to Tina or whoever else and Puck is left staring at her bouncing off into the background. Rachel Berry is by far the most excited person during graduation day. She’s grinning from ear to ear and Puck hates it with all his being that he finds it kind of cute, how giddy she is. He takes a moment to wonder for about the 100th time how did he end up being friends with Rachel in the first place. But here he is, still staring at this bizarre bit of a person as she is hugging their fellow glee clubbers; he sends a smile her way, fully knowing she’s probably right (again): they’ll meet each other again soon. They meet each other again soon. He knocks on her door and she opens and she’s wearing a ridiculous coat that looks like a unicorn puked on it and he feels like slapping himself for thinking it’s the most beautiful thing he’s seen in months. She lets out a squeal as soon as she realizes it’s him and tackles him to the ground. So yeah coming to New York was probably a good idea. They go to lunch that same day and when he tells her he’s here to stay, she announces that they’re going to be roommates: she will not take no for an answer so it’s best if he doesn’t even try to change her mind. (he wasn’t really going to.) He sleeps on her couch for two weeks until they find a tiny apartment and he was his own room. He never believed in friendship between a girl and a guy but after six months of living with her, it’s difficult to imagine his life without Rachel in it. He makes her coffee every morning because he gets up first. She always leaves a note with a smiley face to say thanks and when he gets back from serving tables for eight hours, there’s always an amazing smell coming from the kitchen and Rachel waiting for him, eager to hear and share stories about their day. When he’s not exhausted, he’ll drag her out of the house and they’ll take long late walks in New York City with their arms entwined. She’s scared of a storm one night and crawls into his bed. She wraps her arms around him, rests her head on his chest and when she feels him tensing under her touch she whispers “don’t say anything” and closer her eyes. He doesn’t sleep at all that night. The next one he picks up a girl from the restaurant, brings her back home and fucks her. A distraction from situations you can’t deal with sounds about right. A week later she starts dating one of her co-stars in this off-Broadway show she’s been cast in. They are never the same again. The smiley faces are gone too.Two months later, he wakes up unusually early on his day off and sees her wearing one of his T-Shirts. And it kills him inside because she looks so fucking good in it and she’s not his Rachel anymore so she’s not allowed to wear his T-shirts either. He tells her so too and she starts screaming that he never really wanted her to be her Rachel anyway. Three hours after that, they’re so sick of fighting their own words don’t even make sense. He can’t stand watching Rachel cry so he kisses her to shut her up; to try and fix her; to make her a promise he’s not sure he can keep. They are never the same again. But the smiley faces are back. She’s the bravest one of the two and she tells him clearly that she wants to be with him, right after she gets him an interview at a music school, to teach kids how to play the guitar (non negotiable, he has to go if he ever wants to have a chance to see her naked). They seal the deal the best way they know how (sloppy and passionate and loud) and the next day they share breakfast together. He brings her a rose to each of her premieres. She avoids looking at him during the show because maybe she’ll catch his eye and forget all her lines. She always searches for his face when she’s done though and he’s always there cheering her on and ready to take her out and show her a good time until they’re both so drunk they stumble back to their place singing “Sweet Caroline”, terribly off-key.(Christie’s personal canon, part 2) -- source link
