vampsandflappers:VAMPSANDFLAPPERS: “This is an incredibly racy photo of Bela Lugosi posing with actress Hortense Alden (as Laila) in a promotional image for the play ARABESQUE, from 1925.On the lower right of the photo one can make out a personal inscription to Clara Bow from Lugosi himself. Indeed, this provocative photo was supposedly given to Clara Bow by Lugosi after the two allegedly had a brief, but torrid, affair after Bow came to see Lugosi performing in the stage version of DRACULA in New York in 1929. The rumored affair is the stuff of Hollywood legend.Adding fuel to the fire of the speculation of a tryst between the two iconic actors, Lugosi commissioned a nude painting of Clara Bow from Hungarian artist Geza Kende. Lugosi kept that nude painting of Bow with him until his death in 1956. ” —from the Vamps and Flappers of the 1910s, 1920s, and Early 1930s Facebook Page -- source link
