Poland at Olympic Games in Rio 2016Medals won: 111. Rafał Majka (Cyckling - Bronze) - Amazing team work, cold head, talent for “mountain” rides, and a bit of God’s protection during a crash -> a medal won on first day of Olympics.2. Maria Springwald, Joanna Leszczyńska, Agnieszka Kobus and Monika Ciaciuch (Rowing - Women’s Quadruple Sculls - Bronze) - tactical approach payed off. 3. Magdalena Fularczyk-Kozłowska and Natalia Madaj (Rowing - Women’s Double Sculls - Gold) - showing the class and experience4. Piotr Małachowski (Men’s Discus Throw - Silver) - great champion and man with a huge heart. 5. Anita Włodarczyk (Women’s Hammer Throw - Gold) - three throws. One to take the lead in competition. Second to beat Olympic Record. Third - to set up new World Record. Massacre. 6. Beata Mikołajczyk and Karolina Naja (Canoe Sprint, Women’s Double Kayak 500 m - Bronze) - four years ago in London, their bronze medal was a sweet surprise. This time it proved their class. 7. Marta Wlaczykiewicz (Canoe Sprint, Women’s Single Kayak 200m - Silver) - four years ago in London, she cried about lost chance. Tattooed five olympic rings on her arm as a promise. In Rio this promise was fulfilled. 8. Monika Ewa Michalik (Freestyle Wrestling, Women’s 63 kg - Bronze) - third Olympic Games in her career. Four years ago in London, she fought for bronze with Russian wrestler and lost. This time she fought for bronze with Russian wrestler and won. 9. Oktawia Nowacka (Modern Pentathlon, Women’s event - Bronze) - big surprise. Took over the lead in first competition and held the position until the end. To the finish line she run with smile. 10. Wojciech Nowicki (Men’s Hammer Throw - Bronze) - everyone were so in despair over lost chance for Gold medal, that no one noticed there’s still one Pole in the competition. He came back with medal. 11. Maja Włoszczowska (Cycling, Women’s Cross-country Mountain Bike - Silver)- silver medalist in Beijing, broken leg in London. Came back with style. Her medal broke the 10 medals quota, that’s became a standard for Poland the last three Olympic Games - and ruined this photoset. (which I can’t be happier about :)Can live it all again here. Also special mentions for few people: handball team(!), Maria Anderjczyk (that was close), Piotr Myszka (I blame the wind on Friday), Joasia Jóźwik (SB record), Marcin Lewandowski, 4x400 m men and women’s teams, Maciej Bodnar, Kasia Niewiadoma, Damian Zieliński (those were nerve wrecking three final rides) and rest of our cyckling team, our rowing and canoe teams (who all were really strong), Szczepański and Pochwała, Aleksandra Socha (who twice lead “already lost” sabre-fencing match to a draw),Sofia Ennaoui, Kamila Lićwinko, Piotr Lisek,Piotr Paziński, 470 and 49er sailling teams, volleyball and beach ball teams, and our future: Konrad Bukowiecki, Damian Czykier, Angelika Cichocka, Karolina Kołeczek, Karol Hoffman, Emilia Ankiewicz, Joanna Fiodorow, Anna Jagaciak, Paulina Guba, and Karol Robak. -- source link
