confessionsofa-roleplayer: You realize that being nice to someone on a consistent basis, that talking to them and hyping them up and yelling about plots and headcanons and material together, that can lead the other person to the conclusion that you’re their friend, right? You DO realize that this sounds like friendship, right? So suddenly ghosting them with no prior communication, or treating them coldly out of nowhere…that makes you an asshole. You know that. Right? Right?? ESPECIALLY when you know that they’re neurodivergent? Can you tell that this is something I’ve dealt with personally? As an autistic person who struggles with making and keeping friends DUE TO BEING AUTISTIC, nothing breaks my heart more than finding out someone I considered a friend never considered ME a friend. Being strung along like this, and then dumped when convenient, it really hurts. Like, I get suicidal levels of hurt. It’s gotten to the point where I regard everyone who tries to be friendly with me with suspicion, because in the back of my head I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop.If you genuinely do not want to be friends with someone, tell them that right from the start. It’s better than, you know, treating them like garbage and hurting their feelings when they don’t know if they’ve done something wrong. -- source link
