The Small Pedestal Bench, designed & made in Qatar… • From a collection of seating-designs initially conceived for @m7.qatar … • The base is made of maple-wood, the cushion textile is made of recycled T-shirt fabric. • The textile used to cover the seating-cushions was developed by @reemith and realised by @seamtailoring using fabric remnants salvaged from the largely automated t-shirt manufacturing process. In the cutting stage a computer feeds the cutting machine a very dense pattern that maximises the consumption of the fabric, but “dead spaces” still remain in the pattern, including a margin on either side of the markup area, resulting in continuous strips of “t-shirt yarn”.
